Deadwood on my TV

Deadwood

I must now confess – I am a Deadwood junkie.

Miguel and I bought the complete series (there are only 3 seasons) from our last trip to Manila, and we began watching it just a couple of weeks ago.  Now our every spare moment is spent in front of the TV lapping up the action and pseudo-shakepearean dialogue set in this very intense western series.

Legendary characters from American history such as Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane (love her tomboy drunk character) mix in with fictional characters in this show – most of whom are very gritty lecherous people .  Everyone speaks as if they were brought up on the King’s English, so if you’re not quick on the uptake you may get left behind.  What’s special about this show is the fact that they may have  well set a new record for the most swear words in any program, what with “f**k” squeezed in every piece of dialogue. I myself have never heard the word f**k used to colorfully – as an adjective, adverb, preposition, noun, verb, and whathaveyou.

“SWE’GEN. CACK-SACKA!”

Anyway, my point being this show will probably make the Sopranos look like a children’s show.

There is also quite a bit of sex, nudity and violence.  All in all, this show is definitely not for the squeamish conservatives.

Only comment: Wild Bill just dies too too soon for my taste. I looked it up in Wikipedia and found that the way he dies and the person who kills him is quite historical, which amazed me, so after finding out that piece of information, I can forgive his premature exit.
